Rita tapped at her right breast, nodding. “Yeah, everyone does, right?” Then she frowned. ”You still have your bodhi blastia? I would’ve thought those were taken along with your weapons.” She reached up to her neck and found, much to her surprise, that her necklace was still there.
But despite her discovery, she sighed. “Artes and abilities are contained within a bodhi blastia, but it’s that conversion from aer that powers it. No aer, no powers.”
“But even if there is aer here, we don’t know what else is in this place. Maybe there’s a formula that dampens the effects of the blastia or something,” she said with a shrug. “It’s all just hypothesizing at this point.”
judith had to give rita some credit for keeping her head on her shoulders. being a woman of action, she felt perfectly fine with letting the brunette analyze the situation as much as she wanted. in order for rita to succeed, however, judy realized the importance of information, no matter how minute the detail could be. assuming that the mage was a new arrival, she figured rita didn`t know much.
breaking eye contact by glancing off to the side, judith tilted her chin up towards the murky heavens.
“there`s no real point in taking away our blastia if they don`t work. speaking of which…”
a downward tilt of the head brought the two back in eye contact, with amethyst eyes locking into the girl`s emerald greens.
“there are people here who`ve never heard of blastia or aer, and they talk about having abilities like ours before having this tattoo on them.”
maybe there were more people like estelle, who could utilize some source of power for arte-like abilities. whatever the reason may be, they were all just like what rita said: hypotheses.
It was certainly a unusual sight to catch of glimpse of Judith. Yuri had no clue where she liked hiding around, but he never saw her simply walking around the carnival or city.
“You’re a pretty rare creature yourself, Judy,” he smirked slightly, staring down at the Krityan. In comparison to the visuals of the rest of the circus, Judy was quite a pleasant sight for sore eyes. Of course, Yuri wasn’t thinking of anything less than perfectly innocent, but he wasn’t going to deny she was much nicer to look at than the beat down surroundings.
“So what’ve you been up to?” He asked with a slightly tilt of the head, “I never really catch you around. Hope you’re not avoiding me or something.”
“avoiding you? i wouldn`t dream of it!” she replied, tone full of mirth.
her eyes gleamed with mischief, and brows were raised slightly. upper body bending at the waist, the elfen-like woman leaned over slightly, arms still behind her back. it was then that her smile took a cat-like appearance. there was an ample view of the woman`s rather well-endowed chest no matter which angle one were to look from—as if she needed positioning in order to look better!
“why? did you miss me, yuri?” she teased, indigo locks falling to the side as she tilted her head.
“Fat lot of good freaking out about would do,” said Rita, raising an eyebrow at the woman’s short silence. “It’s not that far off from what we’ve already seen, if you think about it rationally. Just some guy with a bunch of sealing formulas taking people prisoner,” she said with a shrug.
“You can either get yourself all worked up over it, or you can do something.”
what an excellent point the mage made! a grin of pleasure tugged at the corner of her lips. this grin, however, was short-lived as it faltered slightly. judith`s intuition told her that things weren`t as simple as the brunette wanted to believe it to be.
there was a moment`s hesitation before the woman straightened her neck. the hand she rested her head on bent at the wrist, fingertips grazing the bare skin of her chest. the sight would have been a beauty if it weren`t for the dark ink marring her skin of light caramel. this tattoo, this mark held so much power. blastia or not, all powers were sealed off.
“you have this tattoo, don`t you?” the indigo-haired woman inquired. “is it possible for a tattoo to seal off blastia?”
He shook his head in response, not sure what to think of the woman. “I apologize, but… who are you?”
and at last, he speaks! the corners of the woman`s ears twitched at the sound, displaying the amazing amount of neural control she had over the appendages spanning a ways away from the sides of her head. the smile she bore never faltered, even as she shook her head as a response to the boy`s apologies. he was a rather serious lad, wasn`t he?
“no need to apologize at all. i`m judith.” she paused, and then added, “are you new here?”
“Fancy seeing you here too, Judith. It’s practically the whole group, looks like.”
judith could have sworn she`d seen the mage earlier in her stay at the circus—and boy did she have a good memory! there was something odd in how the shorter brunette seemed so nonchalant about the entire ordeal, when she was so distraught before. a gloved finger reached up to tap her cheek repeatedly as her head tilted towards the palm of her hand. thrice she tapped her cheek before finally responding, deciding that thinking about the situation would do little more than cause even more headache.
“you`re taking this rather nicely yourself, rita.”
Yuri leaned forward resting his elbows on his knees, taking another small bite of one of the sandwiches he prepared before coming out here. He was currently sitting on what looked like a giant upside down tea cup. It was probably a remnant of one of the amusement rides, but it made for a good seat in the middle of the carnival.
Yuri was a bit of a way from where everyone usually walks around, so he was just spending his time doing nothing but eating a sandwich and twirling what was probably an old pipe between his fingers. It was hollow and rusty, but it kept his mind focused on doing something other than just lazing around.
Throwing the pipe up and catching it after spinning it once around his wrist, he sighed already getting bored with the thing. He lowered his arms and decided to just spend his time people watching from a far.
“my, my, my,” called out a familiar, sultry tone. “fancy seeing you around here.”
emerging from behind the teacup was the lancer, pristine still in beauty despite lacking whatever resources she had used in the world prior to keep up with her appearance. whatever she was doing in the outskirts of the trailer parks was a mystery to all, and she rarely ever saw anyone venture out so far. there were blue man-eating bears out here, after all! or, there were until the krityan woman, out of pure boredom and restlessness, found it to be a better use of her time to hunt these bears.
as she sauntered into the male`s visual field, judith placed her hands behind her back. it was out of habit that she shifted her body like so, but it never failed to accentuate the tight physique she flaunted out towards the world. a smile spread onto her lips as she waited for yuri`s reply.
Otae’s smile only widened at the sound of her own name being spoken with such a different accent. Well, she didn’t mind. Everyone seemed to come from different worlds, so she was sure she wouldn’t be able to say a lot of other people’s names either.
“Judith?” She responded in kind, watching the other woman curiously. ”I’m glad you aren’t put off by my bad first impression then.” Though it isn’t really a bad FIRST impression you should worry about giving people, Tae-chan.
Giving the other girl another once over (having finally gotten over her own lack of a chest), Otae noticed the other woman’s differently colored hair and ears. Was she from another world or was she an Amanto? It would have been better to assume she was from another world, but how did one even go about confirming that?
“You have such beautifully colored hair. Is it natural?” How utterly girly. But it was the only tactful way she knew to get around the subject of the other woman’s origins.
it was a surprise that otae didn`t mention judith`s ears! her ears, however, were the least of the woman`s worries, with the amount of stranger, more dangerous things that lay waiting within the circus. judith smiled at the compliment, and she saw no negative consequence to supplying the woman with the knowledge she so desired.
with a nod, judith confirmed the woman`s suspicions and added, “it`s natural for kritya to have this sort of hair color.”
the additional information was a hint at how rare her kind was, even to those from her world.
